Burn Up Excess
Review:

Run, Rio, Run.
Ruby is a worthy adversary to team WARRIOR in nearly all respects. As you may have guessed, this is not a picture of her, but of some guy that wants to go to Morocco for a sex change. No, really.Burn Up Excess is a strong mix of fanservice, humor, and intrigue. If a typical anime is a reduced alcohol beer, and the more mature titles like Evangelion and Lain are red wines, then Excess is Vodka or Sake. Speaking of beer, the main character, money-and-men-obsessed Rio, is not opposed to the occasional alcoholic beverage, if only she could afford one. Rio has extreme strength and agility backed up by solid fighting ability; despite her lack-luster performance as a “rookie” on the Neo-Tokyo police force and somewhat odd lack of common sense, she is a member of a secret elite squad known as Team WARRIOR, under the leadership of the somewhat enigmatic Maki. The unusual and humorous mix of the other members of the team, including characters that obsessed with guns, computers, unusual inventions, and women, reminds me of the Galaxy Angel series, while the fairly sexualized character design and content reminds me of the first Divergence Eve series. That said, this is a completely enjoyable anime, with a surreal nature and a somewhat serious mystery at the core of its plot.
