The Cat Returns
Review:

The Baron, a very resourceful cat.
Haru discusses her problems with one of the King's servants. The Cat returns is a warm and fuzzy feel-good fairy-tale flick. Haru, a schoolgirl, just can't get a break - she arrives late for class, the boy she's interested in is dating someone else, and her mother is giving her a hard time. Things look especially bad when she breaks her lacrosse stick saving a cat from oncoming traffic. With everything else going so bad, it's no wonder Haru can't help but wonder if she's going crazy or hit her head when that cat starts to talk to her.
Later, she meets other cats who promise her that she'll be rewarded with magnificent gift, since the cat she saved just happened to be the prince of the cat kingdom. All of the gifts are a bit off, like catnip and packaged mice, but the one that concerns Haru the most is the final one - she's to wed to prince! Wishing to escape this fate but uncertain of what to do, she follows the advice of a mysterious voice, and seeks out the Bureau of Cats with the aid of Muta, an especially large cat. At the Bureau, she meets the Baron, an especially resourceful and living cat figurine. When she's whisked off to the cat kingdom, the Baron and Muta are right behind her.
The Kingdom of the Cats really has the meat of the plot of this movie, and I'm not going to spoil the adventure that Haru encounters there, except that she and her new-found friends end up in a race to escape the Kingdom - with secret-service cats, military cats, and even the King Cat in close pursuit through a giant maze. The King is an especially interesting character; think of a easy-going Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland, and you'll have a good grasp of his personality.
