Since when is a single former prime minister a government in exile?
After a sneak attack, the planet of Kibi surrenders to The Kingdom, and joins its Alliance. The crew of the Amaterasu is ordered to evacuate the ship, leaving a group of trainees behind. Unwilling to accept this fate, the students buy the ship, get a sponsorship from a news network, grab a former prime minister from their home planet, and declare themselves a government in exile. Needless to say, The Kingdom is not happy with this turn of events, and a "war" between them soon erupts, with pressure on the students to not only keep on fighting, but to keep their audience watching and ratings up as well. An interesting spoof of reality TV.
The second disc in the Geneon DVD release includes four episodes which tell a complete story in two parts. The Amaterasu arrives at the planet of Shu, where the crew are regarded as celebrities and sentiment against the Kingdom is especially strong. Things go dramatically awry, and the cadets find themselves fighting to gain an ally in the Shu goverment and make it back to the Amaterasu during a political and diplomatic crisis. The amoral television executive, Peter, continues to make problems for the crew as they go along so that he can boost the network's ratings. Lots of action results with hand to hand combat, fleet battle, and gunfights a plenty.
