Zone of the Enders: Idolo
Idolo begins in media res, with mechs flying and guns blazing. One thing becomes immediately obvious about this anime – it’s full of stupid jerks. Taking place on mars, the main character, Radium, becomes the Martian’s hope against Terran oppression when he becomes the pilot of the eponymous Idolo mech, but things soon go terribly wrong as Radium becomes even more of stupid jerk than he was when he started. There is much tackiness in this movie, with the militaries for both sides showing tactics and strategies that are simply bad – at one point, the Earth forces fire directly at their own shuttle in an attempt to bring the Idolo down. Excellent for action fans.
