Witch Hunter Robin

Witch Hunter Robin is a story about a Witch Hunter who is also a user of “The Craft” herself. Beautifully animated, Robin has a twisted, intriguing plot that makes it a top-tier anime. Robin has been sent to Japan to help the STN-J, an organization that tracks down and captures witches, humans with supernatural powers. Soft-spoken, Robin is able to create flames at will.

Over the course of the series, Robin must come to grips with her powers, what separates her from the illegal “witches” she and the STN-J “hunt,” and her strange and mysterious past. A conversation with a particular witch, a survivor of the Salem witch trials, grants Robin a deeper understanding of her situation, and enhances her power.

Eventually, orders are given to the broody STN-J leader, Amon, to subdue Robin. One thing leads to another, and Robin investigates the organization that sent her to Japan to begin with, Solomon, with Amon’s half-brother, a lawyer with pro-witch connections.

All of this goes on over a story of office politics that entertains, as the administrator of the STN-J and “The Factory” stages a rebellion against Solomon that is absurdly doomed to failure from the get-go. Witch Hunter Robin being an anime, even in a fairly serious, dramatic style, this leads to nothing less than an all-out assault on the factory, his “fortress.”
