My first impression of Mohoromatic: Automatic Maiden was that it was a slightly silly vehicle for fanservice. It has an interesting premise – Mahoro is a combat android that retires from battle to live as a maid to a student, Suguru – but the first two discs of this series defied any attempt to take them seriously. However, the series wraps up with a strong dose of deeper meaning – family ultimately consists of the people that you care most about, and they’re worth everything. I’ve read complaints online about how the series ends, possibly because it’s such a departure from the rest of the series, but I can’t find any serious faults in the finale to this first season.
