Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi
Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi has often been compared to Excel Saga, but let me say right now that, a single, direct reference to Excel aside, Abenobashi is really a different critter, and any similarity is superficial in the extreme. Arumi and Shasshi are two children who travel from world to world, themed after video games, movies, etc.
It’s true that this is a parody anime, but there’s more to this series. Beneath the hypercolorful gloss and nonnsequiturs, there’s real meat in the form of a plot that is surprisingly lucid, especially considering only 3 or 4 episodes of this 13 episode series have any real continuity.
