I was warned to rent something besides Ikki Tousan, but I did it anyway. Obsentsively a fighting anime loosely based on The Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Ikki Tousen is truly just an excuse for boobs. As far as excuses go, I suppose this isn’t the worst, but I don’t know why anyone felt an excuse was neccessary — just go and produce a hentai already!

Of course, every good excuse also needs a moral. The moral of Ikki Tousen is that you should never underestimate the power of stupid.

No, really, that’s the moral that’s explicitly and unambigiously given at the end of this series. The stupidity of the main character is what allows her to change her destiny, and the world. That’s very much all you need to know about this series — go watch something else. There’s some soap-opera-ish subplots, and lots of exploding clothes, and a weird pyscho in bandages that can make things fall apart by touching them, but in no way is Ikki Tousen worth watching.
