Fushigi Yugi: Eikoden
The Universe of the Four Gods is book that contains a real universe, once saved by the Suzaku Seven. Now, both the book, the universe it contains, and the Empire of Kanon are in a state of disarray. In the “real world”, two of the heros who saved the Empire in the past seem ready to settle in to a life together as newly weds starting a family, but are interupted when a girl who’s infatuated with Taka takes the Universe of the Four Gods and enters it, hoping to become the new Priestess of Suzaku, and steal Taka away from Miaka.
Mayo, the girl that’s obsessed with Taka, is an interesting pyschological portrait. At times, she seems genuinely insane, mad beyond belief. As the series progresses, she retreats from this position, and becomes a tragic character as we learn more about her background.
