Bubblegum Crisis

Bubblegum Crisis thumbnail: The 80s will never die as long as we keep it alive in our hearts and watch slightly older anime.

Bubblegum Crisis strikes me as very musical anime. The first episodes show slightly gritty views of the city before opening into a song done in true 80s big-hair style, big-haired band and all. I’ll give it this much, the English version is catchy. This anime wastes no time before showing its true colors, as we go from the band and its “high-tech” lighting and special effects to a terminatoresque android, called a “Boomer,” running amok as the police try to take it down; Bubblegum Crisis is all about action – guns blazing, explosions, and robotic fight scenes.

The plot follows the Knight Sabers, including Priss, the lead singer in the aforementioned band. Boomers are going berserk around the city, and the Knight Sabers use highly advanced power armor to fight them while trying to get to the bottom of what’s causing this turn of events.
